Being a judge on MasterChef: My appearance on BBC’s Young MasterChef

Now then guys, did you catch me testing the “green stuff” on BBC’s MasterChef?

I can finally reveal that I have been a judge on Young MasterChef which has been aired this week on BBC Three and you can watch it back on BBC iPlayer.

I had a blast being a judge and can’t wait for you guys to watch it.

All I’m saying is I’m having dreams about that Chicken Skin and those unusual Fish and Chips were to die for.

Me and Big Has

Here’s the official details in full from the awesome production crew at the BBC:

It’s quarter-final time, and six of the best young cooks in the country are slaying the competition. Things hot up tonight with two tasks that will have socials fizzing as the hunt for the next Young MasterChef champion kicks up a gear.

First, it’s time to review the situation and take things to the next level, as it’s date night on Young MasterChef. Judges Poppy O’Toole and Big Has ask to be spoilt rotten with the rookie cooks’ best dinner date dish – complete with a socials clip that will get hearts fluttering. The ambitious six need to produce a next-level plate of food that wows with taste and also looks the part. Joining the judges is one of the biggest food influencers in the UK, Sam Way (@samseats). He has 30 million followers on social media, so the hopefuls are feeling the pressure. One date night cook doesn’t get a call back, as only five can win a ticket to the next round.

Those that make it through have a tall order on their hands as they tackle the credit crunch by rustling up their best home ‘fakeaway’ – their own take on their favourite takeout. They must deliver next-level food that tastes even better than ordering in. The pressure is on as YouTube superstar and ‘Takeaway King’ himself Danny Malin (@RateMyTakeAway) is stopping by to sample the goods, and his expectations are sure to be through the roof. It’s not every judge that brings in their own folding table and chair.

It’s curtains for one more cook, which leaves the best four flying through to the semi-finals. Only the most fearless cooks stand any chance of survival and edge closer to the title of Young MasterChef champion 2024.
