Now then guys!
I launched a food reviewing channel with Gary Eats, called Danny and Gary just over six weeks ago.
While our name didn’t take a lot of debate, what we’ve been eating has.
In our first episode, we try the UK’s most expensive fish and chips – Archie’s in Kent. It costs £65 for their Big Fish Meal.
Now this bad boy could feed at least four people. It’s huge.
Gary, who’s from down south, leaves the skin on the fish, whereas I lift up the batter to take it off. What shocked him, however, was that I always put gravy on my fish, to me this is the right way to eat it, but Gary strongly disagrees. That said, he’s from the south, where they serve pie, mash, and liquor, which is a green parsley sauce. When really, gravy should be served with pie, mash, and mushy peas.
What surprised me about our expensive fish dinner was how I concluded its value for money.
Not only was the batter super crispy and tasty, but I couldn’t believe it wasn’t fried in beef dripping, which is normally a game-changer for me.
I can’t wait to travel to some of my northern chippy favourites with Gary to see what he thinks, and whether I can persuade him to soak his fish with gravy.
Don’t get us started on a chip butty, however, and whether you call the bread a teacake, breadcake, bap, or even a cob.
